Chicago Area Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Network

CAPriCORN is one of 13 Clinical Data Research Networks (CDRNs) that make up PCORnet, the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network. Convened by the Chicago Community Trust, CAPriCORN includes a diverse group of private, county, state, and federal health systems, and a consortium of federally qualified health centers. CAPriCORN’s overall objective is to build upon the strengths of participating institutions and existing collaborations to develop a cross-institutional infrastructure for sustainable, patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) in Chicago and nationally.

As part of the Engagement Leadership Team for CAPriCORN, CMTP has worked to develop and implement a comprehensive plan to ensure that the views of patients and clinicians are reflected in all network policies and activities. CMTP provides guidance and support to the Patient and Clinician Advisory Committee (PCAC) that convenes regularly to collaborate and provide input on a wide range of topics.

The desired outcome is a research-ready, sustainable infrastructure for conducting PCOR aimed at improving health care quality and health outcomes for the diverse populations of the metropolitan Chicago region. This will require a functioning data infrastructure, governance policies and procedures, and a mechanism for ongoing engagement with patients and community members, clinicians, healthcare system administrators, and other stakeholders.
